Usually, it are white odorless and tasteless crystals, insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid. Generally often contains a small amount of hafnium dioxide.
Chemical properties is not active, and has high melting point, high resistivity, high refractive index and low thermal expansion coefficient, make it become an important high temperature resistance material, ceramic insulation material and ceramic shading, is also the main raw material of artificial drilling.
