What material is zirconia?

Zirconia is a natural raw material of zirconia minerals, mainly including plagioclase zircon and zircon. Zircon is a light yellow, brown yellow, yellow-green and other deep igneous mineral. The specific gravity is 4.6-4.7, the hardness is 7.5, and the metal luster is strong. It can be used as the raw material of ceramic glaze. Zirconia is the main oxide of zirconium. Generally, it is a white, odorless and tasteless crystal. Insoluble in water, hydrochloric acid and dilute sulfuric acid. It usually contains a small amount of hafnium dioxide. Its chemical properties are inactive, and its characteristics of high melting point, high resistivity, high refractive index and low thermal expansion coefficient make it an important high-temperature resistant material, ceramic insulating material and ceramic sunscreen. Its hardness is second only to diamond. Characteristics of zirconia: 1. The melting point of high melting point zirconia is 2715 ℃. High melting point and chemical inertness make zirconia a good refractory material. 2. High hardness and good wear resistance. Zirconia ceramics have higher hardness and better wear resistance. From the specific data, the Mohs hardness of zirconia ceramics is about 8.5, very close to that of sapphire 9, while polycarbonate is only 3.0, tempered glass 5.5, aluminum-magnesium alloy 6.0, and Corning glass 7. 3. The thermal conductivity of zirconia with low thermal conductivity and low expansion coefficient is lower than that of common ceramic materials (1.6-2.03W/(m.k)), and the thermal expansion coefficient is close to that of metal. Therefore, zirconia ceramic is suitable for structural ceramic materials, such as zirconia ceramic mobile phone appearance structural parts.
